The second sermon “Just the Beginning” in the “Blueprint for Becoming Disciples” sermon series is now up. You can listen to it on my podcast here.
This sermon lays the foundation for the Methodist blueprint for becoming disciples by focusing on the importance of God’s empowering and enabling grace. It also argues that once we have come to an initial experience of faith in Jesus Christ, that this is just the beginning. We have begun the journey and by grace we can actually become disciples of Jesus Christ.
As always, I would love to hear your feedback.
I am head’n to itunes and looking forward to the ride to work. That is wierd.
Hi,
Planning on listening…but I was wondering, are you going to cover the means of grace? – Dave.
“If you settle for anything less than allowing God to transform your life completely, then you’re settling for something that’s less than the gospel that Jesus died for.” I like that.
Bart – I will be interested to hear what you think about the sermons.
David – I actually preached about the third general rule this morning, which is basically the means of grace. I did not talk directly about the means of grace, but that is what I am talking about… if that makes sense. (The third general rule is attend upon the ordinances of God which are public worship, ministry of the Word, family and private prayer, Lord’s Supper, Searching the Scriptures, and fasting.) That sermon will probably not get uploaded this week because I am going to be out of town most of the week, but I will try to get it up early next week. (I am hoping to upload week 3 of the series tomorrow.)
Brandon – Thanks! And Amen. (By the way, have you seen/ heard of/ read The Forgotten Ways by Alan Hirsch, or Exiles by Michael Frost? I read them both recently and thought you would really like them.)
