Melissa and I had a great time in New York City. Seeing Yankees Stadium was great! The only negative was that they beat the Minnesota Twins in 3 out of 4 games, we were there for the one game they lost. The game also went much too quickly for an American League game. Johan Santana pitched, so I thought there was a decent chance it would be a pitcher’s duel.
We also saw a Broadway show, strolled through Central Park, ate lots of great food, toured the UN building, and walked all over the city.
Like I said, it was a great trip. But it is also good to be home again. I am looking forward to getting resituated and beginning to try to get a feel for what God has in store for this next year.
I promise I will wrap up the comments on Wesley’s Thoughts Upon Methodism soon. But not today, I am still transitioning out of vacation mode.
May you have a blessed week.
Kevin – Thanks for the update. Sounds like a great trip!! What show did you get to see?
Go Twins! How can you support such a big market beast, Kevin!? haha
Sounds like you had a great time. I knew you were a true baseball purist, and you proved it by hoping for a pitcher’s duel instead of a slugfest. Non baseball purists just don’t understand the beauty of a well-placed change-up.
Andrew – Thanks for your comment. We went got our tickets the day of the show through TKTS, which saved us a lot of money, but meant we had to take what was available. There were only a couple of actual Broadway musicals left when we got to the ticket window. We ended up getting tickets to see Rent. It was very adult content, but the talent of the cast was amazing. I have never heard such incredible singing. We were definitely glad to have experienced it.
Matt – Trust me, I am no Yankees fan. Astros all the way! But, just like when I got to see the Red Sox at Fenway, rooting for the home team seems like part of the experience. (Although if either the Red Sox or the Yankees had been playing the Astros, I would have definitely rooted for the Astros!)
It was a great game. Santana was dominant, as usual. It was kinda cool to see Mussina pitch, he was very good for 5 innings, and then the wheels kind of fell off.
